The Dorset Community Energy team and board members come from a variety of business sectors, and many years of experience within the sustainability, environmental and energy industries. They are a highly motivated group who represent the wider membership of Dorset Community Energy and the ambitions to deliver a more environmentally friendly future for the great county of Dorset.

About the Directors

Tim Crabtree

Tim Crabtree

Chair

Tim lives in Bridport and is a Senior Lecturer at Schumacher College, teaching on Masters programmes run in partnership with Plymouth University. He has 30 years experience in the third sector, working in policy development and business advisor roles. He has previously worked for the New Economics Foundation and for South West based organisations the Bristol & Avon Community Enterprise Network, Dorset Community Action and Wessex Reinvestment Trust group.


Henry Lovegrove

Finance Director

Henry is a retired qualified accountant. He is treasurer and fundraiser for various local organisations including: West Dorset Friends of the Earth, two orchestras and Corscombe Fest. He also plays the violin and runs a small holding, and is keen to support the green economy.


Rose Rychnovsky picture

Rose Rychnovsky

Rosemary has a degree in Ecology & Conservation and a keen interest in all things environmental. She lives in Beaminster, enjoys singing in choirs, volunteering for various local groups and works very happily as a secondary school teacher.


Emily Bullock

Emily started her career as a materials engineer developing high-temperature composites, before moving into the sustainable energy sector. She has over 16 years experience in the sustainable energy field, primarily in the domestic and community sector. She led the work on environmental behaviour change for the Communities Living Sustainably in Dorset project, and is currently working as Environment and Sustainability Manager at South Western Ambulance Service.


Derek Moss

Derek has a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Southampton, and grew up on a Dorset farm. Derek has worked for 6 years as a renewable energy and sustainable building consultant. He has managed the installation of mid-scale anaerobic digesters (biogas plants), and is now employed as Renewable Energy Officer for the Low Carbon Dorset project at Dorset County Council.


Alison Jay picture

Alison Jay

Alison has worked in field studies and environmental education and is currently an Energy Adviser with Ridgewater Energy. She began her career in environmental education, working as a tutor at Leeson House Field Studies Centre and later as Sustainable Schools Officer for Dorset County Council. Alison co-ordinated the set up of Energy Local Bridport project, and is keen to help more communities in Dorset benefit from Energy Local clubs


About the Team

John Scott picture

John Scott

Technical Director/ Asset Manager

John is an Engineer: qualified in Aeronautical Engineering with a Masters in Project Management. John has extensive project management experience, spent 24 year in the Army, and designed, manufactured and produced a range of unique vehicles as the Operations Director for General Dynamics, Universal Engineering and Force Protection Europe.  Since 2012, John has been involved with the installation, maintenance and repair of Solar PV systems. He is passionate about the environment and also runs a sustainable fashion and fabrics brand based in Dorset.


Jamie

Jamie Oakey

Development Manager

Jamie lives in Bournemouth and is venturing into the world of sustainability consulting with his business, Track Positive, aimed at helping small and medium businesses engage with climate actions. In the last 10 years Jamie has worked in a variety of operational and scaling roles in the tech sector, helping to build out capabilities and explore new areas. He is keen to help accelerate the net zero pathways of local communities and bring his enthusiasm to the community energy sector.
